Channels

Used cookware, dimensions variable, 2023

Channels is a body of work about reclaiming female mediumship that has been rendered as impure, wicked, or dangerous in various contexts. Rather than defining mediumship as a specific religious activity, I approach it as ordinary and sacred forms of embodying others and channeling otherness. For instance, made with secondhand household vessels, these metal objects are mediating devices that allude to caregiving as mundane forms of active mediumship that are both restrictive and emancipatory at once.
